You guys seem to be my last hope as Abit has tanked. :(

I've got an AN-M2 mobo that I really like, but there's a bad bug in the BIOS where the CPU virtualization settings won't stay "Enabled." That last BIOS released from Abit was v19. However the AN-M2HD (which sports an HDMI port instead of a DVI) had a v20 that fixed this bug. I'm so mad at these guys for not releasing this fix for the AN-M2. Is there anything I can do to get this feature working? I'm thinking it's probably not a good idea to use the similar mobo's BIOS, but part of me wants to try it anyway.

Any help would be great. I've never looked into DIY BIOS programing. ......maybe I'll google that later. smile.gif

Cheers,

Buy second BIOS chip, have it flashed with the AN-M2HD whistling.gif Bios.....

That is what I would actually try....But did this feature work with earlier versions of the BIOS? As what was introduced with the 19 that you went to it?

Thanks for the responses guys.

Greybear, I think I might give that a shot, but I'm not expecting much as it didn't seem to work for this guy:

maybe he did something wrong <-- wishful thinking right. smile.gif

I haven't tried an earlier BIOS version, maybe I will. The only downside is that will likely loose some of the other fixes.

Can you guys recommend a supplier for the chips, or should I just grab one on ebay?

Thanks again.

I would suggest the BIOS 18....But the reason I suggested the new chip and the 20 was because they appear to be the same, with the same update bioses....Was worth a shot...

I always felt there was a program out there that allows for BIOS writing, or in this case fixing.

Greybear,

I could hug you!!!! In hind sight it seems so silly that I assumed that v18 (or any earlier version) would have the same issue. I flashed to v.18 and I'm up and running w/ KVM on my Fedora 12 box!!!!!! The virtualization setting is persistent between reboots too.

I owe you some beer.

Cheers,
-Ben

WOOT!!!! A&W Root Beer is my fav. smile.gif

Now, BIOS 19 did have a fix for sound issues and S3.....so avoid the S3 and you should be ok.

And you might drop a note on the other forum for that guy also. Cause it look like it was not solved there.
