I read somewhere on the F@H site about some sort of bonus points. When I run a CPU work unit, the program gives a value for base credit and another for estimated credit. But when completing the unit I only get the base credit...

What's up with that? I am supposed to score more points or not? :idontknow:

I think they only give bonus points on SMP work units. Also you have to have a passkey
and have completed i believe 10 work units sucessfully before the deadline in order to start
receiving bonus points.

Oh yeah, looks like you're right. I found this on Stanford's FAQ.

Quote

Points from the Quick Return Bonus (QRB) are often added on top of the base points. [...] To qualify for this bonus, you need a passkey, complete ten Work Units, and then maintain an 80% successful return rate.

I just installed V7 a few days ago and started on SMPs. Will continue churning out WU and see if the bonus points kick in after ten. :)

you get bonus points for both gpu and cpu as far as i'm aware (never used to for gpu tho.) but yes you do need to use a passkey and yes you do need to complete 10 wu's before the deadline before the bonus points start being added.
if your getting 5k ppd now i'd expect you to be scoring at least 20k ppd when they kick in.

I'm not sure about bonus for GPU. Doesn't seem like I'll get any for the WU I'm working on these days.

I'm pretty sure I won't fold more than 10k points on any given day, because I set it to use the GPU only when idle and my PC is turned off at night. Still, that's much more than I ever did. ;)

here's a good guide to setting up GPU folding to receive beta units, right now it's on bonus points similar to CPU WU's

you coming back to the team too Luis_GT , the team would move up even faster then. ;)
i see your putting out 50k+ ppd by yourself if this is you.:- http://folding.extre...php?s=&u=623788

wtf. :clapping:

with 2 monster folders like you and equinox back folding for trp the team would really shoot up the leaderboard. 200k+ ppd

I'm folding but for another team right now, sorry guys, but TRP was dead when I started folding again.

And yeah, that's me... I was averaging over 70K PPD, don't know why it has dropped as of late, gonna have to recheck everything.

yes i think sillyslider was the only one keeping it alive, but with dostov, kwikky and equinox back tho it's really started to climb again. :clapping:

doesn't really matter who we fold for, and my team is really pcpitstop, and where i'll be again soon.

must admit it's been nice seeing trp go up in the leaderboards again and hope the progress continues.

nice to see you back on the team stats. Cvsi3 :clapping:

you still able to put up 500k points a month with your current hardware?

i remember the days when i could produce such points before fah changed the bigadv rules. :cursing:

looking great for the continued upward progress of the team now anyway. :wee:

We will see if i can put out that kinda PPD. It should, its the same system. The only problem i have right now is
my temps. 3 of the 4 fans on my radiator stopped spinning, so i have limited air flow at the moment, i was able to put
a second on there for the time being. But my temps are pushing about 73c on the cpu.

So i may have to back it down a little bit until i can get some better fans.

Bonus points on the GPU are not working out so well for me. It seems I can produce only half the PPD when compared to standard WU... and that is if the bonus points kick in, I'm guessing after 10 WU? :idontknow:

Anyhow, my PPD in down the toilet right now. :bang:

dostov what hardware are you using? smp wu start giving bonus after 10 wu . gpu works different depending on flags your using.

I have a Athlon X4 and GTX460. I'm still trying to get to 10 WUs on CPU, but the last one I got I've been working on for 2 days... :pullhair:

For GPU I use the settings I got from that link Luis posted a few days ago: 'client-type beta' and 'next-unit-percentage 100'. The WUs take a lot of time to complete on the GTX460 and even considering the bonus points I might eventually get, my PPD would be worst than with normal WU. :idontknow:

i would leave the gpu settings as they are. the cpu i would set to smp2. the gpu is going to score far more than the cpu. that leaves 2 cores on the cpu to help the gpu go faster.some wu will kill an amd cpu at smp4. even on my fx8120 set at smp4 a wu can take a day and half. smp2 wu seem to work better while letting the gpu work better.

Oh yeah, absolutely! My CPU is at 2 cores, any more and my PC gets sluggish. My GPU does most of the PPD usually...

I'm going away this weekend but will turn the machine right back on when I get back and hopefully will hit the 10 WUs soon and produce decent PPD! :)
