so I'm going to instal my computer in a new case till I get the 4 case mod done.
I was looking at some parts I have doing nothing and I have a ATI Radeon HD 4890 video card
and I was wondering is I could crossfire it with my AMD Radeon HD 6950 ?

The 2 crossfire connecters look to be at same location! so maybe it would work?

Not possible. Two different architectures won't work together. AFAIK you must have identical GPUs unless you have a Lucid Hydra chip, which isn't all that popular if you don't pay an arm and a leg for your motherboard.

Honestly I have no idea. Never tried different cards in a system like that. You'd think there would be driver conflicts but never know until you try. :idontknow:

well I will try it out this week end I will run eyefinity on 3 monitors and a 4th monitor on the 4890 to see my computer temps and other programs like music and maybe msn,

I will post here after I have made the test.

I think the 4890 and my 6950 can use the same driver and CCC.

I highly doubt that will work. I have always used the exact same cards, except like a single GPU and an X2 together (4870X2 / 4870) for trifire. I have read before of others getting the same series cards (4870 / 4850) to work in crossfire though. I'm sure 6xxx and 4xxx won't shake hands nicely, but Good Luck!!
