Windows is messed up, and I can't get this Gigabyte board to boot from the DVD drive. I need to reinstall Win 7. I'm in safe mode right now, which is the only way this board will boot right now. Everything was fine until I did a reboot yesterday after an Adobe update, now I get a black screen if I try and start Win 7 normally. I guess I'm pretty much screwed. I'm at my wits end right now. Any help is more than welcome.

That's very strange. Have you tried a system restore from save mode?

Hi Mr. Chris -

If System Restore from Safe Mode doesn't work out, you might want to try uninstalling Adobe Reader in Programs and Features and disable the Adobe Acrobat Update Feature in Administrative Tools | Services (set Startup Type to Disabled so it won't load when the system starts).

Can't think of much else.

Tried System Restore, Windows said it didn't work. This is boggling me. Tried Last Good Configuration, I got a black screen.

I finally got Win 7 to reinstall, but within Win 7 in safe mode. this is really bizzare. Friday the 13 crap I guess.

Oh, I lost another Folding PC yesterday, power outage killed the CPU or the PSU, neither of which I can afford right now. *sigh* when it rains, it pours.

Awe man.. that sucks
Its posible you could have a HDD going away.. I would do a health scan of all drives
Then unplug all but your OS drive just for grins and see if it starts up normally
