As a prelude see this post titled Drive does not support RAID?????????and the sequel Drive does not support RAID?????

The replacement board arrived from Biostar on 5 Feb. I started with 2 more new WD drives and proceeded to install Win 7 (trying the 64 bit flavor) on a RAID 1 config. The first indication of problems was on the 6th. The board would appear to go in standby or sleep not matter what settings I used in Windows or the bios. Also the driver for my wired network printer would not connect to the printer but I could use the scanning function. After screwing with the setup for several hours I called HP. The agent kept telling me to remove the USB cable (connected wired to the network) I couldn't get through to him that this was an ethernet connection. I hung up on him and gave up for the day.
On the 7th Windows was updating itself and did a shutdown to finish installing the updates. That was the last display I saw from that motherboard. Spending some time to do the autopsy I found my "sleep" issue was probably the vid card failing. One of the DVI outputs was dead. hummmmmmmmmm. The board showed a post code of 9A. Research did not reveal anything that made sense. Trying a different vid card, clearing the cmos (all methods) and a different power supply did not change the code. Putting the card in the other slot got a variety of codes but nothing that indicated the board was trying to function. May it rest in peace.
A short call to Biostar on the 8th revealed the code 9A was an internal board code referring to a VGA error, the pieces are coming together now. I did not mention the vid card had a failure also. A replacement board is on its way.
I am awaiting word from EVGA as to what they will do about the vid card, they claim the vid card cannot take out a motherboard, yeah right.
At any rate I am going to give up on RAID 1 and do a normal 32 bit install at this time. Instead of the security of RAID I will use a good backup plan to another machine. ( if I can ever get this up and running )

Crap, Dave, sorry to see so much trouble. I have to say both my Biostars are running fine, thank the Gods. I have never used RAID, I have a second drive that I back up all my important stuff to. Hope it's not Western Digital drives failing, as my main rig has 2 brand new WD "Blue" 500Gb drives in it. Been running Seagates for years before this. Never had a Seagate fail on me.
