No prob Joe!

Yes, the Prolimatech Megahalems cpu cooler has some excellent reviews.
Frozen CPU's did a temp, comparison with the top 10, or so, cpu coolers out today, using an i7 system, and the Prolimatech came out on top.

But the True Black was in the top 2 or 3 of being the best!

There is a new Thermalright cpu cooler that I have not seen any reviews on yet, and looks very promising! I'll see if I can find it and post a pic, and a link! But it looks big!!!

Thermalright IFX-14 BP CPU Cooler
http://www.crazypc.com/products/ifx14-cpu-...er-50989BP.html

It uses 8mm pipes, and dual fans....also looks like you may be able to put one in the center (3 fans would be awesome!)

It's not new.
It's been around since before the TRUE.
It works.
I can't find my pics and I didn't get to save his review from ABIT Forums, but NAVIG has a write up on it at both XS and OCF, IIRC.
You may be able to find it here:

I use a TRUE Black on the P5QE, TRUE on my niece's IP35 E and use the HR01 Plus as well.
I used the TRUE Black on the I45 back when i had the E8600 on it.
IIRC, the load temperature never went past 58C when I was really laying some voltage down.
HR01 Plus works almost as well and takes up abit less space.

yea man i switched from the AC Freezer 7 Pro, to the TRUE Black, and it was a huge difference in temps. and when i opened it up to see how big it was in person i was like WOW, and its so sturdy i think if i were to drop it before the reaction to catch it would be to move my feet hysterical.gif

One of the reasons that I like the TRUE and the HR01 Plus is because you can swap out a CPU in 22 minutes. Complete.
Well.
That's the fastest that I have been able to it.
YMMV.

Needle nose pliers. metallica.gif

Might be hard to tell from these - I did some twistage and turnage.
Maybe I can find some shots of my corner clip mods.

Yeah and on my other one I snipped the clips into 4 individual corner clips.
Now that really made it work faster/better.
Still looking for those shots though.

Ok... I have just 2 more questions for chuck4456 &/or hokiealumnus, or any other Mod, or informed OC'er.
Actually anybody's input is greatly appreciated!

1. If I have a problem with space between dimm 1 and my fan on that side of the cpu cooler.

Instead of populating slots 1 & 3 for dual channel, can I use slots 2 & 4 without taking a hit in memory performance?

2. I have the option of 3 different quads, each with a different multiplier-X3380(9.5)-Q9650(9.0)-Q9550(8.5)

Which would you recommend for use to OC?
I'm thinking the one with the highest multiplier, so I'd need slightly less FSB to achieve the same clocks?

Thanks Guys!

Probably within the next 2 days I'll be ripping this rig apart, and building the new one.

1. If I have a problem with space between dimm 1 and my fan on that side of the cpu cooler?

That would depend on the cooler and fan that you use, the direction in which the cooler is mounted, and the height of the memory module heat spreaders.

Instead of populating slots 1 & 3 for dual channel, can I use slots 2 & 4 without taking a hit in memory performance?

Made no difference with mine - YMMV.

2. I have the option of 3 different quads, each with a different multiplier-X3380(9.5)-Q9650(9.0)-Q9550(8.5)

Why not try them all???

Probably within the next 2 days I'll be ripping this rig apart, and building the new one.

Good luck.

Thanks Guys!

You're welcome.

I have excellent front to back air flow, and my cpu cooler needs to be facing right to left, so that my fans on the Prolimatech Megahalems cpu cooler can blow (intake), Front to (exhaust) back!

That will also enhance the cooling on the heatpipe cooler that is mounted over the mosfet

The Prolimatech Megahalem is slightly wider than the True Black, I'd say by a good half inch.
Plus the OCZ Flex is quite tall.
