95% of the hardware problems that we see over at GeIL and over at ABIT are directly related to the use of substandard Power Supplies.
I took some quick pics for a builder today, while I was trying to help him with a board power problem.
The pictures may come in handy for other builders, especially those new to the madness of the PC building world!
The tests were done with a freestanding ROSEWILL 400 watt PSU. The reason that it is freestanding and has been sitting on the shelf for three years, is because the 12v rail reads 10.76v when it is plugged into a system! hysterical.gif
It's a piece of crap, but it was good for this presentation. It also happened to be the first one that I grabbed.
If you don't feel confident enough to perform these tests, then don't do it.

To test 3.3v rails, use the ORANGE wires.
Good luck!

Here's a couple of more quick checks that can be done with the system assembled outside of the case:
Checking +5 SBV-System OFF - PSU ON

Checking POWER ON Signal-

Heh, it'll never be seen at abit either. "Sticky" apparently = "Invisible" hysterical.gif

Great post though, useful, informative & will probably teach a person or two how to use a multimeter.
