am i interpreting the rules correctly when it seems only 2 ultra cooled rigs on a team?

Ultra Cooling..... (only 4 UC Rigs total per forum)
Ultra cooled Rigs will be allowed on the A & B Teams only
No more than 2 UC sli/cf (A Team Only)
No more than 2 UC quad (A Team Only)
No more than 4 UC overall
Ultra cooled is defined as: Vapo, Dry Ice, Liquid Nitrogen and Cascades

it seems that OCF may have 3 on their A team.
i hate to point this out this late, but just noticed it.
perhaps next time around we could have a UC class all on it's own?

They have 2 quad core/crossfire setups and one dual core/single card.

Looks OK to me.

If you wanted, you could have all 4 on the "A" team, but only 2 can be sli/cf or quads or quad sli/cf.

You could put all 4 on the "B" team and have no UE rigs on the "A" team at all, though none of them could use quads or sli/cf.

BT put all there UE rigs on their "A" team, all well with in the rules.

All the rules above are saying is,
You can only have a total of 4 UE rigs and if any of those 4 are quad or sli/cf, they must be on the "A" team, etc etc.

ok...
i guess i just intrepreted it to mean only two UC's on a team.
there is no competition when there are 4 UC's on a team against teams with none.
nothing like bringing BB guns to an artillery competition.
i just misunderstood why there was any mention of a limit if this is the case.

Winning one sub team doesn't win the war, you will also find that alot of the air/water rigs have higher scores than the UE rigs.

I think, only the top 3 rigs are UE, it's all about how you spend your time and money.
Some go for quad/dual core with a single card on UE cooling. Others use quads with sli/cf rigs on air/water. In that case the air/water rig will win.
You will always find some nut that will put a quad with sli/cf on UE cooling, but all most all teams had one or two of them.

I'll also point this out.

One member of FW's had a QX9650 / 3870X2's in CF on LN2 that scored 455K
Another had the same rig but on air/water and scored 456K.

Cooling is not everything.

True... in this particular war quadfire was where to be regardless of cooling. Next time - who knows? Depends on a lot of factors including the benches chosen, the hardware in play at the time, and the skill level of the benchers.

I'm still kicking myself for letting the desire to play Crysis convince me to buy a stupid nVidia card instead of upgrading to quadfire.

As much as I really hate quadfire, it's what was needed for this war.
Ive already sold both cards and am soo happy about it.

i wasn't trying to take a swipe at OCF... beerchug.gif
i just did not understand the rule.
all of you certainly know better than to think an air cooled PC stands a chance against LN2 or Vapor change.
if that was so nobody would buy $800 cooling units.
no sour grapes.
i had fun and will be back for more.
my air cooled rig made a fair showing, and i knew full well that the UC units would stomp the crap out of it... congrats.gif

This war is getting more and more money each time, the next one if you dont have all LN2 cooled you can just settle for last place I guess. Oh well it was fun while it lasted...

It's all good mate,

This is the Courthouse, you saw something you were not sure about, and asked in a nice way.

And I for one like that.
